MTC, in collaboration with Huawei, has successfully completed Namibia’s first 5G trial, generating significant commercial interest.

Despite this milestone, Namibia lags behind globally, with other regions already exploring 6G deployment. Namibia has not yet fully rolled out 4G across the country, which could impact its development agenda.

5G, the next generation of International Mobile Telecommunications (IMT) technology, is more efficient, requires less energy, and produces lower Radiofrequency Electromagnetic Field (RF-EMF) exposure than 4G.
