The Communication Regulatory Authority of Namibia (CRAN) has revoked the Spectrum Licences awarded to Ucom Mobile Namibia (Pty) Ltd (MTN) due to non-payment and allegations of spectrum hoarding.
The company obtained its Spectrum Licences in November 2014 and April 2020.
According to CRAN, the cancellation is a consequence of Ucom Mobile Namibia’s failure to pay the required spectrum fees.
The regulator stated, “UCOM Mobile Namibia (Pty) Ltd failed to pay fees for the awarded spectrum licences and to honour all payment arrangements entered into with the Authority.”
The outstanding amount owed by UCOM is N$19.3 million due to cumulative unpaid invoices.
